The renowned cybersecurity expert, José -Chema- Alonso, warned that the organizations and companies must be trained in new technologieslike artificial intelligence to avoid exposing yourself to cybercrimebefore the massive irruption of criminals in the use of these.

During a magisterial conference at the Latin American Congress of Foreign Trade (CLACE), Chema Alonso emphasized in all the utilities and possibilities opened by artificial intelligencewhich allows a person to be digitally impersonated, even with moving images through video calls, which has already been used in cases of scams.

“If we do not know all the technology we use daily, the risk will grow a lot and cybercriminals will use it,” he said at the event, organized by the Association of Multiple Banks of the Dominican Republic (ABA) and the Latin American Federation of Banks (FELABAN).

He specified that insecure technology, lack of digital protection and the ignorance of employees are some of the weaknesses that are faced in this context.

In fact, Alonso pointed out that hackers continue to investigate to prevent fraud that is committed through new technologies and elevate security for personal and business authentication. He cited among these advances the identification of people through their habits and not only by biometric aspects, such as fingerprints, the shape of the face or the iris.

The expert clarified that the term “hacker” applies to those who are interested in research and testing the limits of technologydifferentiating them from cybercriminals, who illegally profit by these means.

Alonso’s conference, currently Chief Digital Officer of the Spanish company Telefónica, preceded several panels that analyzed other aspects of interest to the export and banking sectors that were concentrated in the CLACE congress.
