In this regard, the head of European Union’s foreign policy, Joseph Borrell, has said in an interview in recent days that the European Union should take action against India on this move by India.
It should be noted that since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war, India has bought the most oil from Russia. It has also benefited India. Oil companies are producing and selling refined products and making good profits.
Joseph Borrell says that it is normal for India to take oil from Russia, but if it is becoming a hub for refining Russian oil and selling products to us, then we have to take steps to stop it. will
He said that in the meeting with Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, Russia’s attack on Ukraine was mentioned, including food security issue, but Russian oil was not discussed.
On the other hand, European Commission Vice President Margaret Vestiger has said that the European Union will talk to India in this matter, but it will be like extending a hand and not like lifting a finger. This shows that currently the EU is dependent on India for business and therefore is not able to speak openly.
