According to a recent research by TRG Datacenters, ethereum (ETH) is the “most hated” cryptocurrency on Twitter. Dogecoin (DOGE) is the most loved crypto on the social media platform.
TRG Datacenters analyzed Twitter messages between January 2021 and January 2022 to find out which crypto provoked the most emotional responses. However, the research only examined five cryptos: bitcoin (BTC), ethereum (ETH), litecoin (LTC), cardano (ADA) and dogecoin (DOGE).
Ethereum most hated crypto
The research results show that ethereum received relatively the most negative Tweets last year, at 29% of the total. Ethereum is especially criticized for its speed (compared to newer “Ethereum killers”) and high transaction costs.
A rise in negativity for ether is usually accompanied by a price rise. According to the research, this means that some people do not want Ethereum to be a success. Also led an unintended hard fork last year to a rise in negative sentiment.
Bitcoin follows shortly after with the most negative sentiment, at 27% of all tweets. Bitcoin was by far the most talked about crypto on Twitter. Then follows cardano of which 16% of tweets are negative and litecoin with 8%.
Dogecoin most popular crypto
Dogecoin received only 6% negative messages, making it the most loved crypto, if somewhat curious. DOGE is a controversial crypto that once originated as a joke. A large part of the crypto community was not at all happy when Tesla CEO Elon Musk mainly tweeted about this crypto.
According to the research, Musk’s messages may be the reason why dogecoin is a favorite on the social media platform. Musk, meanwhile, wants to buy Twitter for no less than $44 billion. The zenith of positive dogecoin sentiment was reached when Musk announced that Tesla is accepting DOGE for merchandise.
Still, we have to take this study with a grain of salt as it only looked at five cryptos. There is a good chance that more controversial crypto like ripple (XRP) will also receive a lot of negative sentiment. According to a new study, terra (LUNA) is likely to take the top spot as the most hated crypto right now.
