Midfielder Enzo Fernández, one of River’s figures, is interested in Benfica from Portugal, which plans to send its sports director to Buenos Aires in the coming days to negotiate with Núñez’s club, according to the Lusitanian press on Friday.
In that sense, the most important club in Portuguese football will send its sports director Rui Pedro Braz to Buenos Aires to negotiate with River the purchase of Fernández, 21, according to the sports newspaper To Ball.
The Lusitanian club has been interested in Enzo Fernández for a long time and months ago made an offer of 10 million euros that did not satisfy River, which wants 20 million euros to get rid of the player as it appears in his termination clause. In any case, this offer can be improved after the important income that Benfica had with the sale of Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez to English Liverpool for 100 million euros.
Benfica, which came third in the last Portuguese League, behind champion Porto and runner-up Sporting Lisbon, has in its starting line-up the defender of the Argentine national team, Nicolás Otamendi, who on more than one occasion expressed his desire to finish his career in River, a club of which he is a fan.
