A Saudi tourist was trampled to death by an elephant on Tuesday while on safari in Uganda. The incident happened at Murchison Falls National Park after the man left the vehicle he was traveling in with friends. “The elephant charged in his direction and killed him on the spot,” said a park wildlife official on Wednesday.
Security protocols reviewed
According to park management, an investigation has been opened into the fatal incident by Ugandan police.
Murchison Falls officials said they will review their safety protocols to “prevent such incidents from happening again.” Wild animal attacks have already taken place in Uganda. In 2018, a leopard killed a three-year-old boy, the son of a ranger at another park in the country.
