An elderly couple was found dead in their home in Treinta y Tres on Saturday morning. The couple, aged 86 and 74, had been shot. Their daughter discovered the bodies when she arrived at the house around 9:45 a.m. She found the door locked and, with no response from her parents, forced her way in.
The victims were in their bedroom, lying on the bed. The man had a revolver near his hand. According to initial reports, the couple had no history of domestic violence or previous attempts at self-harm. Police believe it was a homicide followed by suicide.
Investigation Underway
Forensic experts processed the crime scene. Treinta y Tres prosecutor Ana Segovia was present and ordered the gun to be examined and the victims’ autopsies to be performed. The investigation is ongoing.
