Eight technicians in 12 dates: Azconzábal left Unión

Juan Manuel Azconzábal ceased to be the technical director of Unión de Santa Fe, with which there are now eight coaches who left their position in the 2021 tournament of the Professional Football League (LPF).

After Monday’s 1-0 defeat against Gimnasia en el Bosque platense, which meant the team’s third consecutive fall, the Santa Fe club reported Azconzábal’s departure through its official channels.

“Unión informs that Juan Manuel Azconzábal will leave the technical direction of the first team and will say goodbye to the professional team today. We thank Vasco for the work he has done since his arrival at the Club and we wish him all the luck in his career,” the entity reported on its networks social

Azconzábal’s cycle in Unión had an extension of 40 games, of which he won 12, drew 13 and lost 14, with an effectiveness just above 40%. The “Basque” left Unión in 22nd place in the 2021 tournament with 12 points (3 wins, 3 draws and 6 losses) in 12 dates.

Union’s next game will be on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at home against Patronato, and the team will be led on an interim basis by Marcelo Mosset. Meanwhile, the “Tatengue” leadership will begin the search for a new DT, a task that technical secretary Roberto Battión will start this Wednesday in Buenos Aires.

Azconzábal became the eighth coach to step down from the LPF tournament. Previously, Juan Antonio Pizzi (Racing), Sergio Rondina (Arsenal), Miguel Ángel Russo (Boca), Gustavo Coleoni (Central Córdoba), Mariano Messera and Leandro Martini (Gimnasia LP), Sebastián Méndez (Godoy Cruz) and Leonardo Madelón ( Platense).
