Dutchman who stole 56M and bought crypto arrested by FIOD

The Tax Authorities’ Tax Intelligence and Investigation Service (FIOD). arrested three Dutch people in a massive investment fraud case. The suspects include a woman and two men from the municipalities of Tiel and Oosterhout. Their homes were searched, and cryptocurrencies, houses, bank accounts, horses, cars, luxury goods, cash, gold and jewelry were then confiscated.

Woman has amassed millions on false promises

The two men (31 and 39) and the woman (37) are accused of infidelity and money laundering. The woman is also suspected of having offered unauthorized investment services as well as fraud and forgery. The three were arrested following a preliminary investigation and a report by the Dutch Authority for Financial Markets (AFM).

The AFM received several complaints from victims who had been cheated on by the woman over a two-year period. The woman offers investments through the companies Best Choice, Airfeet BV and Xerof BV. According to them, they generate a return of 10 to 12% per month. However, few if any customers have received their money back.

She promised clients to get that rosy return with the price of gold. With her alleged scam she collected 56 million euros in less than two years. Instead of investing the money in gold, the customer’s funds are likely to have been used for private spending. The woman would, among other things cryptoexpensive (sport) horses, houses and luxury cars.

Crypto industry at risk despite measures

The tax authorities are asking investors to end their current collaborations with the companies Best Choice, Airfeet BV and Xerof BV.
