Joventut is out of the 2023 Copa del Rey final. In a tachycardic match, the hosts could not celebrate the pass with their fans in Badalona and, in a crazy finale, they ended up being left out because of a spectacular block by Tim Abromaitis on Joel Parra. Joventut’s coach, Carles Duran, spoke after the game and expressed his sadness at the result, although he also congratulated his great rival.
“Congratulations to Tenerife who has been better and I wish her the best for tomorrow. I understand that we are disappointed, sad, but among all of us we have tried to reach the final and due to many details we have not succeeded. In many moments when we could break the game we have not broken it”, he lamented at a press conference.
Duran pointed to the poor 3-point percentage (”shooting alone”) or in free kicks as some of those many details that separated them from their end. “In the second half is when we have attacked the worst, defensively we have pushed Tenerife to the limit. To continue our path, we have lost an opportunity but we have also earned it by beating Baskonia”, he pointed out.
