Drones and rockets hit US military base in Iraq

BAGHDAD: Four Iranian-backed militants attacked a U.S. military base in the Iraqi capital with drones and rockets.

According to foreign media, after the martyrdom of General Qasim Soleimani, the head of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iranian-backed armed groups continue to attack US military bases in Iraq from time to time.

The latest attack took place two days ago at a U.S. base near Baghdad International Airport, in which two drones and four rockets were fired, followed by a siren and coalition helicopters patrolling the area in retaliation. ۔

The report states that the drones used by the Ababil Brigade (an Iranian-backed militant group) to attack a US military base were labeled “Quaid Qasim Selmani’s Revenge.”

According to Iraqi media, the drones were shot down by the defense system in retaliation, but four rockets landed on the premises of the US military base, causing minor damage.

The Ababil Brigade claimed that the recent attack on a US military base was in retaliation for the second anniversary of the martyrdom of Shaheed Qasim Soleimani and Shaheed Abu Mahdi Al-Mohandes.
