Photos from Maxar show China’s Yuzhao-class landing ship stationed at this naval base. It is docked at the port with a 320 m long berthing area located near an apron. For the first time in March this year, another warship of the Chinese Navy also reached Djibouti. China’s naval base in Djibouti has existed for many years but no warships were deployed here before March 2022. Let us tell you that Djibouti, located near the Gulf of Aden, is situated on an important trade route. China is preparing to gain a strategic edge by registering its naval presence here. The biggest threat to China in Asia is from India. For this reason, China is preparing its action plan in the Indian Ocean to surround India.

This foreign military base of China

This is the first foreign military base of the Chinese Naval Base Station Dragon in Djibouti. It took $590 million to build this base. China began construction of its military base in Djibouti in 2016. Djibouti occupies a very important place on the world map. This country divides the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea. Apart from this, it also makes its access to the Suez Canal. In such a situation, China wants to have a strong hold in every part of the Indian Ocean so that it can take over the world’s maritime trade. Let us tell you that China is attacking India indirectly from all sides. China’s spy ship Yuan Wang 6 is present in Hambantota, Sri Lanka. At the same time, preparations are being made to deploy Chinese soldiers in Pakistan. China has also leased Yangon Port in Myanmar. In addition, China has also acquired a port in Cambodia in exchange for a loan for military use. From this port, China can keep an eye on India’s Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Not only this, in the latest report of the US Defense Department, it has been told that China is looking at 13 countries including Africa as its military base. These countries also include Angola, Kenya, Seychelles, Tanzania and the UAE. China is set to establish its first permanent military presence off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean in the small Central African country of Equatorial Guinea.

Djibouti military base has been converted into a fortress

HI Sutton, an expert monitoring the navies of countries around the world, has told in Secret Shores that the Chinese naval base in Djibouti is very firmly built. Many security measures have also been taken in this. It looks like a medieval fort from outside. It is clear from this that China has designed its naval base in Djibouti to face direct attack. The Naval Base Building in Djibouti was built long ago, but it has avoided the deployment of any warships. However, the presence of warships in recent times suggests that it is quite aggressive in its policy in the Indian Ocean.

China pressed Djibouti under debt

Djibouti is a country located along the world’s largest maritime trade route. All trading ships passing through the Suez Canal pass near Djibouti. In such a situation, China has also invested heavily to strengthen its presence in Djibouti. Under the Belt and Road Initiative, China has given a huge amount of loans to Djibouti. It also includes several projects like construction of railway lines, container depots, roads and buildings. This is the reason why the presence of China in Djibouti has raised the ears of Western countries.
