Indian Player’s New Chapter: Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has embarked on a new journey, playing for the Paarl Royals in the SA20 2025 season. He made his debut against Sunrisers Eastern Cape, becoming the first Indian to participate in the league. Although he didn’t get a chance to bat, his team secured a nine-wicket victory, thanks to a remarkable performance by Lahuan Dre Pretorius, who scored 97 runs.

Opponent’s Score and Key Performances

The Sunrisers Eastern Cape team, led by captain Aiden McCram, scored 175 runs. McCram’s impressive 82 runs, along with contributions from Tristan Stubbs (28 runs) and Jack Crowley (27 runs), helped the team set a competitive total. Paarl Royals’ bowlers, Kwena Mafaka and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, took two wickets each, with Dinesh Karthik making an excellent catch off Mujeeb’s ball.

Paarl Royals’ Openers Shine

Lahuan Dre Pretorius and Joe Root opened for Paarl Royals, displaying exceptional batting skills. Their 132-run partnership for the first wicket set the tone for the team’s victory. Pretorius scored 97 runs in 51 balls, including 10 fours and 6 sixes, narrowly missing a century. Joe Root, renowned for his Test cricket batting, scored an impressive half-century, contributing 62 runs. Later, David Miller added 17 runs, securing a nine-wicket win for the Royals. The openers’ outstanding performance meant Dinesh Karthik didn’t get a chance to bat.
