Devers homers, Cordero has two hits in Boston’s win

Trevor Story and Christian Vazquez each hit three-run homers and drove in four runs apiece as the Boston Red Sox shredded the Chicago White Sox 16-3 on Tuesday night.

It was the most runs scored this season by Boston.

Story’s homer, off Dylan Cease, capped a four-run attack in the first inning. Puerto Rican Vazquez fired a three-round shot off Matt Foster as part of a six-run sixth inning.

Another Puerto Rican, Kiké Hernández, found Cease’s first pitch for a home run, and Rafael Devers led off the fourth inning with a home run off José Ruiz.

Thus, the Red Sox increased their number of wins in a row to six.

In contrast, the White Sox lost for the fourth time in seven games.

The win went to Nick Pivetta (3-4), buoyed by a 10-0 lead after 4 1/3 innings. He covered six innings on five-hit ball.

For the Red Sox, Puerto Ricans Hernández 6-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs, Vázquez 5-3 with one run scored and four RBIs. The Dominicans Devers 5-2 with two runs scored and one RBI, Franchy Cordero 3-2 with two runs scored and two produced. Mexican Alex Verdugo 5-1 with one scored and one produced.

For the White Sox, Cubans Yoán Moncada 4-0, José Abreu 3-2 with a run scored and two RBIs, Yasmani Grandal 4-0. Dominican Leury Garcia 4-0.
