Denmark became the third team to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, after beating Austria 1-0 at home and securing first place in Group F of the European Qualifiers.
The Danes join Qatar, classified as organizer, and Germany, which secured their spot on Monday by beating Macedonia and staying with group J.
Denmark’s only goal for their victory over the Austrians came from Joakim Maehle, eight minutes into the second half. The Danish campaign in the Playoffs is overwhelming: eight wins in as many games, 17 goals for and none against.
Group F: results: Denmark 1-Austria 0, Faroe Islands 0-Scotland 1, Israel 2-Moldova 1.

For his part, star Cristiano Ronaldo contributed a hat trick (two penalties) to Portugal’s 5-0 win over Luxembourg. Bruno Fernandes and Palinha completed.
The Portuguese team was second in group A with 16 points, to one of Serbia, which beat Azerbaijan 3-1 and has 17 units, but one more match (it will be free on the next date and will visit Portugal on the last day ).
Sweden, meanwhile, jumped to first place in zone B after beating Greece 2-0 and relegated Spain, which was released, to second place; and England drew 1-1 at home with Hungary and leads Group I but now with only three points ahead of Poland, which beat Albania 1-0 on the road and snatched the shooting guard.
