The Cuban government described dengue as the health problem "more complex" in the countryas highlighted by the Presidency in a statement taken up this Thursday by the official press.

For their part, the independent media have reported an increase in hospitalizations for suspicious fevers.

Last August 24, the Ministry of Public Health confirmed 11,634 reactive cases of denguealmost four times more than the positives reported in the first half of the year (3,036).

Reactive cases are understood as tests in which the presence of the pathogen is detected, either because the patient recently had the disease or because it is still active in the body.

Last January, a test by the International Atomic Energy Agency culminated in Cuba with almost 1.3 million mosquitoes, which managed to reduce the population of the Aedes aegypti species by up to 90%.
