चेन्नई सुपर किंग्स (CSK) has found a replacement for injured captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Ayush Mhatre, a young Mumbai batsman, will join the team soon. Gaikwad’s elbow fracture rules him out for the entire tournament, and CSK is still looking for their first win after five straight losses.
Ayush Mhatre’s Profile
Mhatre has a strong domestic record. In nine first-class matches, he scored 504 runs across 16 innings, including two centuries and a half-century. His top score is 176. In List A cricket, he made 458 runs in seven innings, with two centuries and a half-century. Mhatre was available at his base price of ₹20 lakh in the IPL auction but went unsold.
CSK’s Current Situation
CSK is in Lucknow for their next match on Monday at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium. They have one win and two points so far. Their upcoming schedule includes a match against Mumbai Indians on April 20 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. MS Dhoni will continue to lead the team in Gaikwad’s absence.
Mhatre is expected to join the team in the next few days. The franchise has asked him to report immediately. With Mhatre’s addition, CSK hopes to strengthen their batting lineup and turn their season around.
