Mohammed Amir Prefers IPL Over PSL, Says Will Play in IPL If Given Chance

Mohammad Amir, a former Pakistan fast bowler, has set the cricket world abuzz with his candid admission: he’ll prioritize the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the Pakistan Super League (PSL) if given the chance. The 33-year-old, who has retired from international cricket, now focuses on league cricket.

Amir’s wife, Narjis Khatun, is an English citizen, and he’s hoping to secure English citizenship, which could pave the way for him to play in the IPL. “If I get the opportunity, I’ll definitely play in the IPL,” Amir told Jio News. “I’m saying this openly. But if I don’t get a chance in the IPL, I’ll play in the PSL.”

The PSL and IPL are currently overlapping, and Amir believes this won’t be the case next year. He thinks the two leagues will have different schedules, avoiding a clash. This year’s PSL has suffered due to the overlap, with many top players missing out.

Amir’s PSL team has already signed him, but he’s willing to withdraw if he’s picked for the IPL. “If I’m selected for the IPL, I won’t be able to pull out,” he said. “It depends on which league picks me first.” His decision will be influenced by the order of the auctions for the two leagues.

League Preferences

Amir’s preference for the IPL over the PSL might come as a surprise to PSL fans, who often compare their league favorably to the IPL. However, Amir’s reasoning is straightforward: he wants to play in the more prestigious and lucrative league.

  • Amir has retired from international cricket and now focuses on league cricket.
  • He hopes to secure English citizenship through his wife, Narjis Khatun.
  • Amir will prioritize the IPL over the PSL if given the chance.

The cricket world will be watching to see how Amir’s decision plays out, particularly if he’s picked for the IPL next year.
