Crowd at Kabul airport, 5 killed in shooting

After the Taliban seized control of the Afghan capital, Kabul, US forces opened fire in the air at the Kabul airport to stop the crowd.

According to the Wall Street Journal, US forces fired into the air to disperse the crowd, killing five people.

US military flights are for diplomatic and foreign personnel. The US military has secured the borders of the Kabul airport.

It should be noted that the US State Department in its statement said that the US embassy in Kabul has been completely evacuated and all embassy personnel are present within the limits of Hamid Karzai airport.

Notably, the Taliban seized control of the Afghan capital on Sunday, August 15, while Ashraf Ghani fled the country after resigning from the presidency.

Almost 20 years later, the Taliban have reclaimed Afghanistan.
