Sport Huancayo from Peru and Nacional from Paraguay will play the first match of the 2023 edition of the Copa Libertadores this Tuesday.
The duel corresponding to the first leg of the first qualifying round for the group stage will be played from 9:00 p.m. (TV: Fox Sports) at the Huancayo stadium, located 3,200 meters above sea level.
The rematch will be played next Tuesday the 14th in Asunción and the winner of the series will face Sporting Cristal from Peru, one of the teams that entered directly into the second phase.
Led by Pedro Sarabia, former defender of River Plate, Nacional de Paraguay – runner-up in the 2014 edition that San Lorenzo won – starts as a favorite, although he must first achieve a good result at the height of Huancayo.
The initial stage of the most important tournament in South America will continue this Wednesday with the first leg between Nacional from Bolivia and El Nacional from Ecuador.
Meanwhile, on Thursday it will be the turn of the match that is linked to Huracán, the only Argentine representative of the qualifying stage.
In Montevideo, Boston River from Uruguay will host Zamora from Venezuela. The rematch will be on the 16th in Barinas and the winner will be precisely the Globo’s rival in the second phase.
The Parque Patricios team will play as a visitor in the first game scheduled for February 22 and will define the series on March 1 at the Tomás Adolfo Ducó stadium.
Thus, to reach the group stage that will be drawn on March 22 at the Conmebol headquarters in Paraguay, Diego Dabove’s team must overcome the third phase against the rival that will come out of the Nacional team, Sport Huancayo or Sporting Cristal.
It should be noted that in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores 2023, Boca, River, Racing, Patronato and Argentinos Juniors have already qualified.
