Copa Argentina: Board of Trustees beat Colón de Santa Fe on penalties

Patronato defeated Colón de Santa Fe 3-2 in a penalty shootout, after drawing 1-1 in the 90 minutes of regulation, at the Coloso Marcelo Bielsa stadium in Rosario, and reached the round of 16 of the Argentine Cup.

With a slight dominance of “Patrón” in the initial stage, the clearest situation was for “Sabalero” in the 29th minute, when goalkeeper Altamirano saved striker Luis Rodríguez’s penalty to maintain the tie at zero.

Emotions came in the complement, since Rodríguez redeemed himself, assisted Ramón Abila and he opened the scoring after 11 minutes. But Patronato equalized with an excellent left-footed shot to the angle by Alexander Sosa.

From the twelve steps they were not effective: for Patronato Diego García deflected his shot over the crossbar, just like Juan Barinaga, but Alexander Sosa, Franco Leys and Raúl Lozano converted.

On Colón’s side, Paolo Goltz raised his shot, Altamirano saved it from Rodrigo Aliendro and Abila crashed it into the post, so the goals from Christian Bernardi and Federico Lértora were not enough to avoid defeat.

In this way, the Paraná team will face the winner of the duel between Gimnasia y Esgrima (La Plata) and Flandria in the round of 16.
