Copa Argentina: Argentinos beat San Telmo in discount and will face Boca

Argentinos Juniors beat San Telmo 2-1 in an agonizing way at the Unico de San Nicolás stadium, for the quarterfinals of the Argentine Cup, and will face Boca in the semifinals of the tournament.

The club that plays in Primera Nacional took the lead in the 37th minute with a goal from Thomas Amilivia, while at 40 the defender David Achucarro was sent off after a double warning. That red card completely conditioned the match, which was a monologue by Argentinos.

The La Paternal team generated a large number of goal situations, and reached a draw from Kevin MacAlliser’s hand at 18 minutes, but only at 48, two from the end, did it reach the victory with a goal from the entered Matías Romero .

In this way, Argentinos will play in the semifinals against Boca, who defeated Patronato de Paraná 4-2 on penalties, after drawing without goals in regulation time.

In a match in which the best version of the cast of La Paternal was not seen, the expulsion of Achucarro after San Telmo’s goal paved the way for Gabriel Milito’s team, who came out determined to reverse the partial defeat in the second half .

However, the resistance of San Telmo complicated the outlook for “Bicho”, who was only able to celebrate in the closing, after missing a series of clear chances due to the lack of efficiency of his forwards.

Argentinos Juniors came to this instance after eliminating Gimnasia and Esgrima La Plata by winning 3-2 in the round of 16, while in the Professional League they had fallen 2-0 with Defense and Justice in La Paternal.
