Congress MLA Backtracks on Threat to Rashmika Mandanna Amid Safety Concerns

Rashmika Mandanna, the talented South Indian actress, has been making waves in the entertainment industry with her consecutive film projects. Since her notable role in “Animal,” she has been seen in numerous films, including “Pushpa 2” and “Sapta Sagaradaache Ello.” Her upcoming projects include “Sikander” alongside Salman Khan, “Kubera” with Dhanush, “The Girlfriend,” and “Thama” with Ayushmann Khurrana. However, the actress has recently found herself at the center of a controversy.

A Karnataka MLA, Ravi Kumar GOWda Ganiga, accused Rashmika of disrespecting the Kannada language and declining an offer to attend a film festival in the state. The MLA’s statement sparked outrage, particularly among the Kodava community, with many demanding that the actress be taught a lesson. Following the backlash, the MLA has issued a clarification, stating that his intention was not to personally attack Rashmika but to remind her of the importance of respecting the state that nurtured her career.

In an interview with ANI, the MLA explained, “When I said I would teach her a lesson, I meant it in the context of life lessons, not attacking her. My point was that she should not forget the ladder that helped her rise to fame.” He emphasized that his goal was to remind Rashmika of the significance of appreciating the state and its culture, which had supported her growth as an actress.

The MLA revealed that he had invited Rashmika to an event in the state, but she declined, saying she didn’t have time. He expressed disappointment, stating that despite starting her career with a Kannada movie, “Kirik Party,” Rashmika had refused to acknowledge the state’s culture and language. The actress had allegedly said, “I don’t know where Karnataka is, and I don’t have time.” This statement raised concerns about her safety, with the Kodava National Council (KNC) expressing anxiety, as Rashmika is a member of the organization.

The MLA, who claims to have watched Rashmika’s films, maintained that his intention was not to criticize her personally but to emphasize the importance of respecting one’s roots. He reiterated, “Our state, our land, and the Kannada language should be respected.” As the controversy continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how Rashmika will respond to the MLA’s clarification and the ongoing debate surrounding her comments.
