Coinbase CEO: 1 Billion People Will Use Crypto Within 10 Years

According to Brian Armstrong, the CEO of Coinbase, the number of crypto users could increase by up to five times in the next 10 to 20 years.

Fivefold increase in 10 to 20 years

Brian Armstrong is the co-founder and CEO of Coinbase. He predicted a substantial increase in the number of individuals involved in the crypto ecosystem over the next 10 to 20 years. In fact, according to Armstrong, the limit of one billion crypto users is certainly not excluded.

Despite the rather grim state of the crypto market since early 2022, Armstrong remains bullish on future developments. At a recent conference predicted he that within a decade, a billion people will have dived into the crypto ecosystem. Armstrong said the following:

My guess is that in 10 to 20 years we will have a significant portion of GDP in the crypto economy.

Given the growth in new crypto users over the past year, Armstrong’s prediction makes sense. During the first six months of 2021, the number of people involved in the market more than doubled. The market has risen to over 220 million individuals.

During this period, the prices of Bitcoin and most altcoins hit record highs quite frequently. Bitcoin surged above $60,000 in April 2021. Currently, the top cryptocurrency is trading at around $38,555 each.

Cathie Wood, the CEO of Ark Invest, also spoke at the conference. She argued that monetary firms could lose their qualified employees if they don’t embrace the DeFi sector. Wood said the following:

In the case of DeFi and next-generation internet use, we see many financial companies losing talent to crypto. So they have to take crypto seriously, otherwise they will be eroded.
