Jazz Chisholm Jr. homered twice, including a grand slam, and had six RBIs in Tuesday’s game as the Miami Marlins beat the Washington Nationals 12-2.
Nick Fortes and Jorge Soler added home runs, while Avisaíl García had three hits for the Marlins.
Rookie right-hander Edward Cabrera allowed one run in six innings. In his second start since the previous week, when he was promoted from Triple A, the Dominican limited Washington to two hits.
Cabrera (2-0) issued a pair of walks, prescribed four strikeouts and hit a pitch.
The Marlins have scored 26 runs in Cabrera’s first two starts. They crushed Colorado 14-1 on June 1.
Chisholm snapped a 2-for-29 streak by hitting his grand slam in the second inning. He found a pitch from Joan Adon (1-10) and sent the ball over the center field wall to make it 5-0.
Homers from Fortes and Soler ignited another five-run attack in the fourth inning.
