China VS Taiwan: The Chinese Army on Thursday fired 370 mm PCL 191 (MLRS) rockets as part of a live fire exercise. These rockets were launched over the Taiwan Strait. The purpose of firing on them is to target Taiwan. The range of this rocket, launched from China, is 350 km. This information has been given by the local media of China. It has been told by China’s official newspaper Global Times that under the military exercise being held close to Taiwan, Taiwan is being cordoned off from sea to land and also in the air. The Chinese military is using everything from J-20 stealth fighter jets to DF-17 hypersonic missiles in the drill.

China’s secret weapon

Defense experts have described the rocket fired by China as a ‘mysterious weapon’. This rocket system (MLRS) was tested at a time when tensions with India were going on in eastern Ladakh. China recently tested it close to Ladakh. Its maximum range is being said to be 500 km but little doubt has been raised on this. Some people tell its range as 350 km. PCL-191 is a truck launch rocket system that can launch 370 mm rockets with ease.

The system can carry eight rockets to a range of 350 km or the 750 mm Fire Dragon 480 tactile ballistic missiles. The range of these missiles is more than 500 km. The glimpse of this rocket system was first shown to the world by China during the National Day Parade in the year 2019. This system is being described as the most advanced system of PLA. Apart from this, it has been reported by the Global Times that the Eastern Command Rocket Force of the PLA has fired a variety of conventional missiles towards several identified parts of the east of Taiwan.

What is the dispute between the two countries

Taiwan is an island approximately 160 km off the coast of southeast China, opposite the Chinese cities of Fuzhou, Quanzhou, and Xiamen. It was ruled by the imperial Qing dynasty, but its control passed to the Japanese in 1895. After Japan’s defeat in World War II, the island returned to Chinese hands. Chiang Kai-shek, leader of the Nationalist Kuomintang Party, fled to Taiwan in 1949 after the Communists led by Mao Zedong won the civil war in mainland China. Chiang Kai-shek established the government of the Republic of China on the island and remained president until 1975.

China has never recognized the existence of Taiwan as an independent country. He argues that it was always a Chinese province. Taiwan maintains that the modern Chinese state was formed only after the revolution of 1911, and is not part of that state or the People’s Republic of China, which was established after the communist revolution. Political tension between the two countries continues. Let us tell you that China and Taiwan have also had economic relations. Many Taiwanese expatriates work in China and China has invested in Taiwan.
