Chennai stopped Kolkata’s Vijayarath and defeated Chepauk by 7 wickets

Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets in a low scoring game. Kolkata Knight Riders had scored 137 runs while playing first. On the other hand, while chasing the target, the CSK batsmen kept the wickets in hand on the one hand and continued to run the scoreboard on the other. Chennai won the match with 14 balls remaining and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad’s unbeaten half-century of 67 runs played an important role in this victory. KKR had registered three consecutive wins in IPL 2024 but CSK is the first team to beat them in the current season. While Chennai regained its winning streak after two consecutive defeats.

Rachin Ravindra contributed 15 runs and Daryl Mitchell 25 runs in CSK’s win. CSK had scored 81 runs in the first 10 overs for the loss of one wicket, which made it quite easy for them to win as the team needed 57 runs in the last 10 overs and had 9 wickets in hand. Although Mitchell was out in the 13th over, Shivam Dubey, who came in to bat thereafter, ensured a one-sided match by batting blisteringly like he does every time. Shivam Dubey scored 1 four and 3 sixes in his explosive 28-run innings off 18 balls. When Mitchell Starc spoke about KKR’s bowling, he was slammed again. Except Sunil Narine and Vaibhav Arora, no KKR bowler could take wickets.

Captaincy innings by Ruturaj Gaikwad

After taking over the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024, Ruturaj Gaikwad struggled a lot while batting. Although he played an innings of 46 runs against Gujarat Titans, he failed to show anything special with the bat in the remaining 3 innings. Now that he took charge on a slow pitch in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders, he showed signs of returning to form by playing 67 innings of 58 balls. He hit nine fours in that innings. Apart from them, Ravindra Jadeja and Tushar Deshpande also shone in Chennai Super Kings’ win. Both took 3-3 wickets while bowling.
