Federico Coria, from Rosario, the top seed for the title, defeated the Italian nationalized Argentine Luciano Darderi 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) in the opening round of the Brasilia Tennis Challenger, in Brazil, to advance to the second round of final of the contest in which his compatriots Francisco Cerúndolo, Pedro Cachín, Santiago Rodríguez Taverna and Nicolás Kicker also won.

Coria, located in 69th position in the ATP world ranking, debuted with a victory against Darderi (444 °), born 19 years ago in Villa Gesell, and based in Italy for five years, after an hour and 30 minutes of play.
