César Valdez joins the Dominican team

César Valdez has been added to the Dominican team’s roster, the team’s management reported.

Nelson Cruz, the position’s starter, said the veteran pitcher is coming in for Jose Leclerc of the Texas Rangers.

“César has a name made, as we say in our country. His experience should serve us in many ways. And, likewise, he has been willing to represent his homeland since day one,” said manager Cruz through a press release from the Dominican Baseball Federation (Fedom).

Valdez, from the Tigres del Licey in Dominican autumn-winter baseball and with the Los Angeles Angels in the Majors, will be in a World Classic for the second time after participating in 2017. He has been one of the best pitchers in Dominican baseball and He comes from being the Most Valuable Player in the last Caribbean Series held in Venezuela.

Starting today, Monday, the members of the Dominican team will begin to arrive in Fort Myers, Florida, which will be the training venue, with the first practice this Tuesday at the Minnesota Twins complex.

Later, Wednesday and Thursday, the troupe led by Rodney Linares will have two exhibition matches. On the 11th will be his first official engagement of the world championship against Venezuela at 7:00 pm at the Marlins Stadium.
