Castillo asks Peru for confidence in his Government after declaring in the Prosecutor’s Office

Castillo pide a Perú confianza en su Gobierno tras declarar en Fiscalía

The President of Peru, Pedro Castillo, asked his fellow citizens for confidence in the Government this Friday after finishing his four-hour statement at the National Prosecutor’s Office, as part of a preliminary investigation that is being carried out for an alleged case of corruption.

"Despite the obstacles, lies and accusations, I ask Peruvians to trust that all the objectives set by the People’s Government will become a reality, working together, because Peru is above any circumstance."Castillo said on his Twitter profile.

The president declared on the social network that he has no "nothing to do with irregular acts or corruption"What is it "an honest man"and who will always defend his "innocence and honor".

"For the sake of transparency, respect for the Peruvian people and love for my family, I will always show my face and will be available to the justice system for whatever is necessary."said.

Castillo published these words after a brief statement without questions that he offered to the press immediately after leaving the Prosecutor’s Office and before entering the Government Palace.

"We are going to continue contributing, we are here to show our faces as we always will"Castillo told the media, after affirming that he has been "where to be today" and that he has answered all the questions of the Prosecutor’s Office.

For his part, his lawyer, Benji Espinoza, added that in the interrogation Castillo answered a hundred questions and affirmed that the president "has emphatically denied" that there is one "criminal organization" in which you are involved.

"the greatest gesture" is that he has come to testify, concluded Espinoza.

The Prosecutor’s Office, for its part, issued a statement detailing that the investigations "are part of the preliminary investigation opened against former Minister Juan Francisco Silva Villegas, and six congressmen of the Republic, for the alleged commission of the crimes of criminal organization, aggravated influence peddling and aggravated collusion".

He maintains that there are "reasonable indicia" of allegedly criminal acts committed in the framework of a public tender for the construction of the Tarata vehicular bridge, over the Huallaga River, in the Amazonian department of San Martín.

Castillo attended the summons today despite the fact that his defense presented last Wednesday before the Judiciary a demand for "protection of rights" to demand that any investigation against him be annulled, since he considers that he enjoys absolute immunity while in office.

During that hearing, the Prosecutor’s Office explained that it considers that Castillo should be investigated as "leader of a criminal organization" entrenched in the Executive to obtain "illegal benefits" of contracts signed by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).
