The Argentine Agustín Canapino (Dallara-Chevrolet) got a place this Saturday among the 33 drivers who will participate on Sunday 28 in the traditional Indianapolis 500 of motorsports, as part of the sixth date of the annual calendar of the Indy Car of the United States.

The 33-year-old from Reef finally got the 27th. starting location, with a record that averaged 372.273 kilometers per hour for the four laps he gave in a first round with the Juncos Hollinger Team unit on the 4,023-meter oval of rope. “I did not expect the car to behave this way,” said the four-time Road Tourism champion, once the requirement that placed him among the privileged ones who will start the competition was completed.

In the second session of the day, Canapino was unable to sustain the pace when he was crossing the third step and a gust of wind affected him, to such an extent that he brushed against the wall in turn 1. For this reason, the Argentine affected the right rear suspension so he had to go into the pits. In this way, Canapino will start next week in the ninth starting row, together with the British Stefan Wilson and the American Devlin Defrancisco.

The Swede Félix Rosenqvist (Dallara-Honda) achieved the fastest time, at an average of 376.501 kilometers per hour, with which this Sunday he will be one of the 12 pilots who will fight for pole position. Among the other eleven who will seek the best time are the Mexican Patricio O’Ward (Arrow McLaren), the Spanish Alex Palou (Chip Ganassi Racing), the American Alexander Rossi (Arrow McLaren), the Japanese Takuma Sato (Chip Ganassi Racing) and New Zealander Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing).
