Cameron Young’s 59 Outshines Travelers Championship History

The unforgettable Saturday in Cromwell (Connecticut) came to an end at 8:22 pm, after nearly a three-hour weather delay caused by the threat of a thunderstorm. Cameron Young played a key role throughout the day, beaming with joy from the morning onwards, after having shot 59 on the first morning.

Young jumped 33 positions in the standings after two eagles and seven birdies on Saturday, including a majestic 255-meter 3-iron at the 15th hole.

Only six minutes passed before something extraordinary happened, something that left the world of golf in awe.

“I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary before playing, except that everything felt normal and then suddenly I started playing well. It was just wonderful,” said the American player after his incredible round.

Young eventually finished the tournament in 10th place, five shots behind South Korean star Tom Kim, who is chasing his fourth PGA Tour title, and four shots behind defending champion Scottie Scheffler.

And so the travel to the Travelers Championship, with nine players within just four shots, remains alive and kicking.
