BYD Expands European Lineup with Six New Models by 2026

The Chinese car manufacturer BYD is expanding its presence in Europe. This year, the company introduced two new models to the market: the Dolphin Surf and the Atto 2. These electric cars are part of the B segment and have been well-received. But BYD’s plans don’t stop there. The company has a wider range of vehicles, including the Dolphin, Atto 3, Seal, Seal U, Seal U DM-i, Sealion 7, Han, and Tang. Recently, the Seal 5 DM-i was added to the lineup, available in Poland and Slovakia.

The Seal 5 DM-i is a low-cost hybrid plug-in sedan, measuring 4.78 meters in length. It combines a 1.5-liter engine with an electric motor, producing a total of 212 horsepower. Although the zero-emission range has not been announced, the LFP battery has a capacity of 18.3 kWh, and the total range is estimated to be 1050 km, with a certified consumption of 3.9 liters per 100 km.

In an interview with Auto Express, BYD’s sales and marketing chief for the UK, Steve Beattie, revealed that six new models will be launched by the end of 2026. While this forecast applies to the UK market, it’s possible that these models will also be introduced in other European countries. The BYD Atto 2, for example, may get a hybrid plug-in DM-i variant, although this is likely to happen in 2026.

The company is also working on the Seal 6 DM-i, which will be available in both sedan and wagon versions, with more premium features. Additionally, the revamped Dolphin and Seal models, already on sale in China, may soon be available in Europe. The BYD Han and Tang, which have body styles that appeal to European tastes, may also be introduced, along with the Seal 06 GT. Meanwhile, BYD’s premium brand, Denza, will make its European debut later this year.

Expanding the European Catalog

BYD’s plans to expand its European lineup are ambitious. With the introduction of new models, the company aims to increase its market share and provide customers with a wider range of options.
