Brexit: British nationals residing in France will have to hold a residence permit from January 1, 2022

According to figures provided by the Home Office, as of September 20, 163,157 Britons have applied between October 2020 and September 20, including 4,581 after July 1, 2021.

The prefectures have dealt with 150,353 since October 2020. In its last census, in 2016, INSEE counted 148,300 British nationals living in France.
