Brazil’s Lula ‘returned’ Putin’s invitation to visit Russia

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has ‘turned down’ the country’s President Vladimir Putin’s invitation to visit Russia.

The two leaders had a telephone conversation on Friday. At that time, Putin invited Lula da Silva to attend the International Economic Forum held in St. Petersburg. In response, the Brazilian president said that it would not be possible for him to visit Russia at the moment. News from AFP.

After talking to the Russian president, the Brazilian president said in a tweet, “I thanked (Putin) for inviting him to attend the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg and told him that I cannot go to Russia at the moment.”

He also said in the tweet, “However, I have reiterated that India, Indonesia and China as well as Brazil will be available to talk to both parties involved in the conflict in order to establish peace.”
