Bolsonarist deputy threatens Lula with a gun: "I wait for you at my house"

I will be ready for a warm welcome, you will be welcome.” With that message and a video in which he loads the cartridge of a semi-automatic pistol, the deputy from Brazil Junio Amaral, a member of President Jair Bolsonaro’s coalition, responded to a speech in which former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva defends that militancy puts pressure on Brazilian parliamentarians.

The deputies have houses. If we mapped the address of each deputy and there were 50 people in their house, talking to their wives, talking to their children, disturbing their tranquility…”, was the fragment of Lula’s speech that Amaral shared on the networks, with a montage in which while the former president speaks, he loads the gun.

“Well, Lula, you don’t know where I live, but I’ll explain. I’m from Contagem, a city governed by the PT, including the Ressaca region, Cabral neighborhood,” begins the message from the Bolsonarist deputy and insists on criticizing communal politics for the lack of potholes: “Ask Marília (the mayor of the city) who knows the streets and wells of Cabral well and can guide you. And I’ll wait for you there.”

Lula’s speech took place last Monday at the Central Única de Trabajadores, where the former president considered that, instead of going to Brasilia to hold public events, the unions and social movements should “map” the address of each deputy and present themselves in your door. Bolsonarist parliamentarians criticized Lula on social media for inciting hatred, and Amaral responded armed.

The speech came after the former president defended the importance of the House and Senate elections for the approval of a labor “counter-reform” in the country. According to Lula, society will have to be taught to demonstrate against deputies and also change the way of exerting pressure. Lula considered that “doing a public act in front of the National Congress does not lift an eyelash from a deputy.”

Complaint of the PT for Amaral’s threats

“It is a clear threat of death or another violent evil, both against former president Lula and against any citizen who dares to demonstrate democratically,” the PT maintained when presenting a complaint against Amaral in the Ethics Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and they add : “They consist of an intolerable and extremely serious act.”

The denunciation of the historic party founded by Lula points out that Amaral’s response to Lula’s speech is “disproportionate, authoritarian, hateful, totally incompatible with what is expected of a deputy.”
