Boca Juniors is close to completing its first major sale on the market

Boca Juniors is about to complete its first significant sale in the transfer market and the protagonist is Valentín Barco. Brighton, who had already expressed interest in the middle of the year, have returned and are willing to pay the $10 million release clause for the young Xeneize talent.

According to reports from journalist Augusto César, Brighton’s offer includes a 5-year contract for Barco. The English club has accelerated negotiations and would be willing to cover the entire release clause to secure the player’s services. The possibility of Boca retaining part of Barco’s rights is mentioned if an agreement for a large percentage is reached in the negotiations.

Valentin Barco, one step away from going to Europe

The Boca Juniors election situation adds an additional component to the decision. With elections approaching, Vice President Juan Román Riquelme prefers to wait before making important decisions. The election date will influence the club’s strategy in terms of offers for key players such as Barco.

Brighton’s interest is not new, as in August 2023 they made an offer for a significant percentage of Barco’s transfer, which was rejected by both the player and the club. With Brighton now willing to pay the release clause, they are keen to secure Barco’s January signing.

Valentín Barco has a contract with Boca Juniors until the end of 2024, giving the Argentine club some control in negotiations. The outcome will depend on how the election situation develops in Boca and what final decision the player makes about his future in European football.
