A US Senator, Cynthia Lummis, is convinced of the potential of bitcoin (BTC) and the wider crypto industry. According to her, bitcoin is able to contribute positive things to the US economy. In addition, she believes that the king of cryptocurrencies is already unstoppable.

Cynthia Lummis and Bitcoin

During a interview with hard money Lummis didn’t hold herself back. Her support for bitcoin had been no secret for some time, but in the interview she underlined her opinion in unmistakable language. The US senator even stated that it is a “reassuring idea” that bitcoin exists during a time of great economic turmoil.

“I love that it can’t be stopped, especially because I’m worried about our national debt, I’m worried about inflation… We see things that are inflationary everywhere. It’s actually reassuring to know that Bitcoin is there,” the senator said.

Lummis is seen by the crypto community as one of the biggest advocates of the crypto industry within the US government. In February of this year Senator Lummis also indicated that it might be a very good idea for the US central bank, the Federal Reserve, to take bitcoin on its balance sheet.

Lummis first bought BTC in 2013 for about $320. Since then, she has never sold her original investment and its value has risen to at least $70,000. Senator Lummis is said to have bought more bitcoin for the last time this summer, according to public documents.

Pro-crypto legislation

Senator Lummis is also working with Senator Kyrsten Sinema on legislation that will give Americans the opportunity to learn about cryptocurrencies. For Lummis, educating the American population about all the possibilities of the crypto industry is her highest priority.

“As people learn more about Bitcoin and become comfortable and comfortable with an asset that is fully online, they will have it for their savings and their long-term future.”
