The T20 World Cup will be played in June 2024, with only about three months left until the start, leaving all 20 teams with little time to prepare. The Sri Lankan team is currently on a tour of Bangladesh where they will play a three-match T20 series starting March 4. Earlier, there was a major change in the Sri Lanka team which saw the sudden return of wicketkeeper-batsman Niroshan Dickwella, who had retired from the T20 team after three years. Dickwella was included in the team in place of Kusal Perera, who will not play in the T20 series against Bangladesh due to illness.

The last T20 match was played in 2021

Niroshan Dickwella’s return to the Sri Lanka T20 team clearly shows that he is also in the running to take part in the World Cup. Dickwella played his last T20 match of 2021. The Sri Lankan team has already reached Bangladesh following which Dickwella will join the team on March 2. Dickwella played his last match for the Sri Lanka team in the limited overs format in 2022. If we look at Niroshan Dickwella’s record in T20 International, he has played 28 T20 matches so far and scored 480 runs at an average of 18.46 scored while he has only seen half a century innings with his bat. We tell you that Charith Asalanka will take over the responsibility of captaining the Sri Lanka team in the first two matches of the T20 series against Bangladesh. All matches in this series will be played at the Sylhet ground. After this, a three-match ODI series will also be played between the two, the first match of which will take place on March 13, while a two-match Test series will take place at the end, which is also part of the third edition of the World Test Championship.
