Biden and Sunak agree to increase US gas exports to the UK

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the US President have agreed a new energy partnership which includes an increase in exports from the United States to the United Kingdom, with the aim of provide energy security by the threats of the Russian war in Ukraine.

The “UK-US Energy Security and Affordability Partnership” seeks reduce global dependence on Russian energy exportsstabilize energy markets and intensify collaboration on energy efficiency, according to a Downing Street statement.

"This partnership will lower prices for British consumers and help end Europe’s reliance on Russian energy once and for all."Sunak has declared.

Thus, the British “premier” has qualified that his country has the natural resources and the industry to "create a better and freer system, and accelerate the transition to clean energy".

Sunak and Biden agreed at the G20 Summit in Indonesia to address the energy needs of both countries, as well as "lead efforts to accelerate" the energy transition.

This plan will be led by the energy ministers of each country, driving international investment in clean energy technologies.

This agreement (London’s third with Washington in the absence of a bilateral free trade agreement) would guarantee at least 9 billion cubic meters of US liquefied natural gas over the next year, an amount that would double the 2021 export and equal the record volume provided this year, Bloomberg reports.
