BHD Financial Center enables electronic payment

The BHD Financial Center launched Billet, the brand of its fintech company, the first electronic payment entity (EPE) authorized to operate in the country by the Monetary Board.

Billet was presented at an event chaired by Luis Molina Achécar, president of Centro Financiero BHD and Banco BHD, and joins the banking and means of payment division of this business group.

Steven Puig, executive president of Banco BHD and president of the fintech’s Board of Directors, stated that the new BHD company provides the most innovative one hundred percent digital payment platform through a mobile application.

“Billet will improve the country’s payment ecosystem by putting state-of-the-art technology in the hands of people that provides security, facilities and comforts when using money digitally. Billet is a new simple and fast means of payment, which leads us to take a step towards the future of finances hand in hand with the BHD Financial Center”, explained Puig.

As an electronic payment platform, Billet allows all people of legal age, unbanked and banked, to make payments through the free downloadable mobile application that only requires an ID and a cell phone number to register.

Billet can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play application stores. People who use the application do not have to be clients of any financial institution.

“Billet will promote financial inclusion in the Dominican Republic and is part of the investment in technology, digitization and means of payment that we are making at the BHD Financial Center,” said Puig.

The functionalities of the Billet mobile application were explained during the launch event by Ángel Gil, executive vice president general manager of the fintech. “Billet is going to revolutionize electronic payments in the Dominican Republic. With this application on the phone, users will be able to pay for services, deliveries, transportation, in addition to transferring money in real time and recharging minutes”, explained the executive.

Gil stressed that “if they are merchants, they will be able to charge with a Billet or QR code and mPOS, providing customers with payment facilities and the business with its counterpart in collections.”

Under the Billet brand, it is a BHD company that has the first electronic payment entity license approved by the Monetary Board.

Billet is a 100% digital means of payment that is activated through a mobile application only with the ID and a cell phone number.
