Beyond iPhones: Apple Eyes $130 Billion Robotics Market by 2040

Apple is reportedly poised to enter the personal robotics market, a move analysts believe could generate revenue comparable to its App Store ecosystem within two decades.

Morgan Stanley projects Apple’s “Apple Robotics” division could achieve up to $130 billion in annual revenue by 2040. This figure highlights the substantial scale of the company’s potential new venture.

The financial firm anticipates a motorized desktop assistant as Apple’s first consumer robot, possibly launching as early as 2027. This device is envisioned to move, follow users, and assist with daily tasks.

Analysts view this as a logical expansion for Apple, building on its integrated software, hardware, and artificial intelligence ecosystem. The global “embodied AI” market, also known as Robotics 2.0, is forecast to be a multi-trillion dollar industry by 2050.

Apple seeks to monetize its base of over two billion active devices, creating new subscription services, dedicated applications, and specific accessories. By 2040, “Apple Robotics” could capture an estimated 9% market share, potentially surpassing the revenue generated by its Mac and iPad product lines.

The company is expected to rely on its vertical integration and strong reputation for design and privacy to ensure success. However, it faces existing competitors such as Tesla and Boston Dynamics, alongside significant technical hurdles in developing consumer robotics.

Apple’s strategy involves combining premium hardware, integrated artificial intelligence, and subscription models. This aims to further embed intelligent technology into daily life.

Despite these projections, the project for an Apple robot, potentially branded “Design in California,” remains in the realm of rumor.
