The fighter Ernesbadi Begue, a Cuban boxer based in the Dominican Republic, will try to become the Latino champion of the super middleweight (168 pounds) of the World Boxing Association, when he faces the Brazilian Lucas De Abreu on the 16th of this month at the Pabellón de Fencing of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
The Begue and De Abreu fight will be the star of the card with which the Dominican promoters Shuan Boxing and Domini Boxing will close the year 2022.
The official announcement of the event was made this Wednesday at a press conference held in the James Rodríguez Hall of the Ministry of Sports.
Begue is 7-0 unbeaten, five of those successes coming by way of knockout, while his Brazilian rival is 14-1, with 11 of his wins coming before the cutoff. The fight will be agreed to ten rounds.
The co-main event will be led by Rene Santiago, from Puerto Rico, with a record of 9-3 and seven knockouts, and Geraldo Zapata, from Nicaragua, who is undefeated in 14 fights, of which five have been defined by the dream route. This fight will be at 108 pounds and also over 10 rounds and the WBO Latino title will be at stake.
The third stellar fight will face Brainer Vásquez, from Santo Domingo, with Derlyn Hernández, from Monte Plata, over eight rounds and in the super featherweight division. Vásquez’s record is 15-4 with 9 knockouts and his rival’s is 10-1 with 9 knockouts.
Another match will be that of Kenny Cano, from Venezuela, with a 14-6 record and 11 knockouts, and Franklyn de Paula (4-0) and a native of Santo Domingo. The experienced Dominican Lenín Castillo will also fight on the poster.
Belgium Peña, promoter of Shuan Boxing, said that as always it will be a brilliant billboard in which two titles will be at stake and it is the last one that the company will carry out in 2022.
He maintained that the evening will include 12 fights, all of great attraction, where there will be a great constellation of international fighters.
The poster will have the support of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, an entity that was represented at the press conference by Vice Minister Franklin De la Mota, who appreciated the great work that has been done in boxing in recent years.
