BCCI Central Contract: Why the doors were closed for Yuzvendra Chahal, Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane

BCCI has issued a new central contract. Many young faces were included in this pivotal contract, while many big players were left out. BCCI did not include big players like Yuzvendra Chahal, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane in the new central contract. The question now is whether the doors to Team India have been closed for these senior players? Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane were part of the Indian Test team for a long time. Yuzvendra Chahal, on the other hand, continued to play in the ODI and T20 formats.

The Indian team is playing a 5-Test match series against England. In this Test series, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane were not included in the Indian team but bets were placed on young players like Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan. Due to these young players, it is expected that the comeback will be a big challenge for older players like Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. Therefore, these players now had to lose the central contract.

Cheteshwar Pujara is around 36 years old. Aside from that, he struggled with poor form. At the same time, Ajinkya Rahane is also over 35 years old. BCCI gave preference to young players over these players in the Test series against England. In this way, BCCI has made its stand almost clear.

On the other hand, if we talk about Yuzvendra Chahal, he has been a part of the Indian limited overs team for a long time. But recently many have dropped out of the Indian team. 33-year-old Yuzvendra Chahal has represented India in 80 T20 matches apart from 72 ODI matches. Took 121 wickets in ODI format and 96 wickets in T20 matches. But now BCCI is giving importance to young players like Ravi Bishnoi. Given the way Ravi Bishnoi has made his mark in the T20 format, it will be very difficult for Yuzvendra Chahal to return to Team India.
