Barcelona approached a formal offer for Robert Lewandowski

Barcelona president Joan Laporta confirmed on Thursday that the Catalan club had made a “formal offer” for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski and that they expect a “positive” response from the German club.

“We respect Bayern, but we have made an offer for the player and we expect a positive response,” Laporta said at a press conference reported by the DPA news agency, adding: “We thank the player for showing interest in us.”

A survey conducted in Germany revealed that 41% of those consulted think that Bayern Munich “must let go” of Lewandowski, despite the fact that the Polish attacker’s contract expires on June 30, 2023.

Likewise, the owner of the Barça club presented Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen this week, two players who meet the requests of coach Xavi Hernández.

According to Laporta, “Barcelona has credibility again, but all the operations have an added degree of difficulty due to the situation and the economic debt inherited. We are in a process of repaying the debt and investing to make our teams more competitive.”
