According to AS, the Iberian Handball Super Cup will be held in Malagaspecifically in the pavilion Garden City of Malaga. The Andalusian city will host the days December 17 and 18 the first edition of this Super Cup that will face Barça, current League and Cup champion, Fraikin Granollers, runner-up in the Copa del Rey, with the Portuguese Porto, League champion, and Sporting Lisbon, Cup champion.
Coinciding with the dispute of the Iberian Super Cup will be held Also in the capital of Malaga on December 18 the Women’s Spanish Super Cupwhich will face the Super Amara Bera Berachampion of the Iberdrola Warrior Leagueand the Costa del Sol Malagawinner of the Queen’s Cup.
The Iberian Super Cup is “fruit of joint work” between Spanish Handball Federation and the Portuguese Federation and will have as a climax the dispute of the Men’s European Handball Championship of the year 2028 that they will organize Spain, Portugal and Switzerland.
“It is It is important to celebrate this first Iberian Super Cup and that it be in a cradle of handball like Malaga. For his part, the president of the Portuguese Handball Federation, Miguel Laranjeiraassured that the dispute of the Iberian Super Cup is a “sign of growth” of handball in the Iberian Peninsula. “The organization of the Iberian Super Cup is the realization of something that we have been pursuing for a long time. Handball is powerful in the Iberian Peninsula and grows with respect to the context of Europe, and this event is proof of it. I am convinced that this first edition in Malaga will be a resounding success”, indicated Laranjeira.
