Bandits attack villages in Nigeria, killing dozens

Abuja: Bandits in northern Nigeria have killed more than 36 people while attacking two villages.

According to a foreign media report, these villagers had probably refused to give ransom money to the robbers, in return for which this bloodbath was played.

Sokoto police spokesman Ahmed Rufai said in a statement that the assailants on motorcycles killed eight people in Raka, seven in Balangawa, six in Jaba, four in Dabagi, three in Raka Dutse and two in Tsilwa village.

The farmer who survived the attack of the robbers told the foreign media that the robbers had demanded money, on our refusal they attacked our village and killed 36 people.

Another local farmer said that we buried the people who were killed by robbers yesterday.

Abdullahi, a farmer, said the bandits terrorize the area, attacking from their hideouts in the nearby Tsauna and Koyan Bana forests that stretch into neighboring Niger.

It should be noted that this is the second major attack by bandits in a week in northern Nigeria, before bandits attacked six villages last week killing more than 30 people.
