Austrian athlete runs a marathon in a refrigerator at 25 degrees below zero

The Austrian Rainer Predl has run a marathon in the facilities of a meat refrigerator in Vienna, at 25 degrees below zero, giving 782 laps of 54 meters each to cover the 42,195 kilometers with a time of 3 hours and 47 minutes.

As reported on Thursday by ORF public television, the athlete is preparing for a marathon that he plans to run in April 2024 at the North Pole.

It was exhausting. My head hurt a lot. You notice that you don’t drink much because it’s very cold. That was a problem, and the lap is very short, 54 meters, so it’s difficult to reach a certain speed,” Predl, 33, told the broadcaster.

The athlete is known for his extravagant projects, such as running 70 kilometers around his kitchen table during the coronavirus pandemic or running for seven days straight on a treadmill.
