  • Australia’s tour of Pakistan is in March
  • The kangaroo team will go to Pakistan for the first time since 1998

The Australian cricket team is preparing for a tour of Pakistan after 24 years. It is reported that so far no player has opposed Pakistan. The Kangaroos last visited Pakistan in 1998. This Pakistan tour of Australia will start from March 3. During this, there will be a series of three Tests, as many ODIs between the two teams. Australia’s tour of Pakistan will end with the only T20 match to be played in Lahore.

Pakistan has not been able to host the best international team and tournament for almost a decade due to security reasons. After the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009, Test cricket could not be organized in the country until 2019. Last year too, before the T20 World Cup, the New Zealand and England teams withdrew from the Pakistan tour for security reasons. New Zealand then decided to withdraw just before the match.

Team Australia is on its way to tour Pakistan for the first time in 24 years. National coach George Bailey has described the security plan as very strong. According to the Cricket Australia (CA) website, Bailey told reporters on Tuesday: “I think both boards are still working on some minor issues regarding the tour, so once they get formal approval, we’ll be the team”. They are going in the right direction to a great extent.

Australia made a final tour of Pakistan in 1998 under the direction of Mark Taylor. All is positive about the Pakistan tour, but uncertainty remains over the resumption of the Sheffield Shield season.

The last time Pakistan hosted an International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament on its soil was in 1996, when it co-hosted the World Cup with India and Sri Lanka.

The coaches, however, did not have to look at the performance of the players in the Shield tournament after Australia’s 4-0 win over England at the Ashes.
