Arsenal beat Estudiantes de La Plata 2-1 on Monday and turned a run of four draws into a five-game unbeaten run by adding their first success in the Professional League. Leonardo Madelón’s team thus rose in the averages, leaving 5 points behind Aldosivi, for the moment the last to lose the category.
Sarandí’s team (7 points) was superior to Pincha (7) in the initial stage, taking the lead after 4 minutes with a headed goal by Cristian Colmán -before a very poor start by Mariano Andújar- and had chances to increase the advantage, but a shot by Franco Zapiola from the top of the area in the 40th minute defeated Alejandro Medina’s resistance and tied the platense.
Already in the second half, the locals regained supremacy and with a header from Leonel Picco at 58 minutes they went back to the front against a rival who suffered a lot from the air, one of their usual strengths.
Ricardo Zielinski kept several regular starters ahead of Thursday’s clash against Fortaleza in Brazil, for the return leg of the Copa Libertadores round of 16 (the first leg ended 1-1).
