Ten dead and seven injured, including three elements of the Prosecutor’s Office, was the result of an armed confrontation between alleged members of a criminal organization and the security forces that took place on Tuesday in the State of Mexico, authorities announced.

The armed attack occurred Tuesday morning in the municipality of Texcaltitlán in the State of Mexico, about a hundred kilometers southwest of the Mexican capital, during a special operation in which elements from the Secretaries of National Defense and the Navy, the National Guard, the Secretary of Security of the entity, and the State Attorney General’s Office.

The Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Mexico indicated on its Twitter account that ten alleged attackers perished in the event and another seven were arrested, four of whom were injured, but did not offer more details.

Three elements of the State Prosecutor’s Office were also injured in the attack, of which two were taken to a hospital and are now out of danger.

During the operation, 20 R-15-type long weapons, handguns, cartridges, five vehicles, bulletproof vests, military-type uniforms and communication equipment were seized, the Prosecutor’s Office said.
